Blessing

One of the functions of Priesthood was to bless the people.

The Aaronic priestly blessings is as follows:

“The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee and give thee peace.”

In the third chapter of the book of James, we are told to bless only and never curse.

Blessing is a particular feature both of Celtic Christianity and the Jewish faith.

Another peculiar feature of the Jewish faith is to bless God. Most of the Jewish prayers begin with the phrase, Baruch atah [Adonai], meaning ‘Blessed be the Lord’.
