The Church Year

Although the Church and the Jewish festivals run alongside one another in the Spring, with Pascha or Easter mirroring Passover and then Whitsun or Pentecost mirroring Shavuot at the culmination of Eastertide / the Omer count, the Church year continues along a different path.

in fact, the Church year beings in the Autumn with All Saints on 1st November.

The next major festival is Advent leading toward Christmas on 25th December, then epiphany…

after Pentecost / Shavuot, there is Trinity Sunday and then a great long space of ‘ordinary time’ until All Saints, with the possible interlude of Harvest Festival in between.
