Vows

Primary Decision

Your ‘primary decision’ and calling is to become a Christian, also known as ‘Conversion’ or your decision to ‘follow Jesus’.

If this is not something you have already done and you would like to have some advice or more information, please contact us.

[Basic Christianity course]

If you have recently made a commitment, and would like a Certificate you may request one below.

Postulant

– To become a Postulant, or candidate for membership, you must agree to carefully and prayerfully consider whether you are called to join the Order. For more information, see our Candidates page.

Novice Year 1

– After our Postulant period is complete, you must agree to follow the Rule and to undertake to complete the first year of Training.

Novice Year 2

– After you have completed your Year 1 Review, you will sign up to follow the Rule and undertake to complete the second year of Training.

Novice Year 3

– As with Year 2, you will sign up to follow the Rule and undertake to complete Training for another year, after completing your Year 2 Review.

Final vows for full membership

– Upon completion of your Year 3 Review, you will agree to follow the Rule  as a Full Member of Kernow Community.

We do not ask that you sign a lifetime covenant, vow, oath or promise, since we take the Biblical view that such vows are binding. We simply agree to follow the Rule annually, to the best of our ability for as long as we feel called to do so, and unless or until such time as we are called to abandon it. (For example, if our understanding or convictions or calling change.)

You will also be invited to offer yourself as an Anam Chara if you are not already acting in that role.
